The Meaning of LIFE

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

There is a comfort to me in the order of that verse. Sure the enemy comes, and I hate what he steals, kills, and destroys, but it’s not the end of the verse; regarding how radical the magnitude of what Jesus says next, that part of the verse almost becomes a footnote. Keep that in mind – the enemy will only be a footnote in your life. Jesus’ LIFE will reign in you and reign ABUNDANTLY.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, we are a ministry with the drive and passion for bringing LIFE – NEW LIFE, ABUNDANT LIFE, HIS LIFE.

As we share God’s promises with you, we wanted to clarify the use of the word LIFE in the New Testament. The books of the New Testament have been translated into English from Greek. While in English, we have one word for “LIFE,” the Greek has three words that are used for “LIFE”:

Bios – This refers to the physical aspect of life and the root of the word biology.

Psuche – This refers to the psychological life of the human soul – mind, will, emotions. It is the root of the word psychology.

Zoe – This is the eternal, uncreated life – the divine life of God that Jesus brings.

When we hear Jesus speak the words of John 10:10 “…I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” What LIFE is He referring to? Our body (bios)? Our soul (psuche)? Our eternal, divine life (zoe)? Jesus is referring to “zoe,” and even with a broken body, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

It is vital as we study, dive in, and claim these life-giving promises that we have perfect clarity and understanding of what they are.

Now is the time for not only singing about His promises, but we need to know them and claim them too.

It is our joy to partner with you to uncover all the new life He has ahead for you.
